Cartoons are one way the artist can express a political opinion. These ones were normally used on the Opinion or Editorial pages of major newspapers. I will let them speak for themselves.

Everyone is allowed to express their opinion. This cartoon (below) appeared in a Sydney 'fringe' paper, in early 1996, not long after the coroner had made the decision to leave the cause of Azaria's death as 'open' on her death certificate. Theoretically, one cannot publicly say or imply that Lindy and Michael are guilty, as their convictions have been quashed. The paper this was published in had no resources in the company name, so clearly had no fear of a defamation lawsuit. It is a way the less scrupulous can get away with poor behaviour in public. There are many more such cartoons, statements, letters, and pictures which are included in the National Library of Australia. I include this one only for research purposes.
